Experienced Associate-Litigation Consulting & Financial Investigations Services Job Description
At RSM, Experienced Associates work with large and small companies in various industries. They develop strong working relationships with clients built on understanding their businesses and challenges. Experienced Associates work on multiple team engagements each year, including several pieces of any particular assignment— not just one part. Working in a mutually respectful team environment helps our experienced Associates perform at their best and integrate their career with their personal life. As an experienced Associate in the Financial Investigations and Dispute Advisory practice, you will work directly with experienced CPAs, CFEs, and other consultants and business leaders on a large cross-section of engagements actively contributing your ideas to help resolve matters for our clients.
Many of the job responsibilities required of an Experienced Associate in the Financial Investigations and Dispute Advisory practice are directly related to complex litigation and financial disputes. You will use your strong accounting and analytical skills to develop quality solutions to meet client requirements.
Examples of specific assignments could include:
Forensic examination of accounting books and records
Analyzing and reconstructing fraudulent transactions, complex transactions, financial statements, etc.
Performing electronic reviews of evidence
Conducting industry and client research and analysis
Documenting current client business processes and internal control environments
Assisting with interviews relevant to a particular litigation matter
Assisting with the preparation of detailed analyses, expert and other reports, affidavits, and other client deliverables (demonstrative tables, exhibits and charts)
Compiling organized workpapers
Assisting with the preparation of proposals to new and existing clients
Cultivating and maintaining positive, productive, and professional relationships with colleagues and clients
Minimum B.A. / B.S. degree or equivalent in Accounting from accredited university; Master of Accountancy or Master of Science in Accounting preferred
Minimum 3.0 GPA / 3.5 preferred
Two or more years of audit, tax or consulting experience. One or more years of experience in providing litigation, investigation, and forensic accounting services a plus.
Attained or progress towards attaining CPA, CFE and/or CFF certifications
Ability to have flexibility to meet client deadlines
Ability to travel locally & nationally to clients and other RSM offices and work with different RSM practices
Strong writing and verbal communication skills to articulate information in a clear and concise manner
Strong organizational and time management skills
Strong computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Eagerness and willingness to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and understand your role on the team
Natural aptitude for problem solving
Self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision
Driven to exceed client expectations
Ability to balance multiple priorities
Desire to learn and develop
